today we cannot avoid see advertising everywhere. marketing studies show an average person sees between 400 and 600 ads per day. these ads are targeted towards different groups and promote everything from baby food to luxury cars.
for customers, advertising play an important role in making them aware of the worth of the product or service. it also helps consumers know how effective and valuable a product or service is to them. besides, advertising is the most exciting, colourful and clever method of communication. the way information is presented can not only be memorable but also be thought-provoking and raise the standard of consumers’ aesthetic tastes. in that way, consumers won’t mind seeing a well produced ad many times.
apart from commercial ads, public service advertisement plays an important role in our society. it addresses or promotes a matter of social concern, like public health, animal rights and environmental protection. these ads contribute a lot to the overall progress of our society.
however, ads can have a negative effect on consumers. it often happens that while you are watching a wonderful film on tv, endless ads interrupt you from time to time and make you rather annoyed. besides, ads try to make people remember their brands and build brand loyalty. most people who are loyal to one brand generally do not switch to other brands very easily. also, children are most affected by ads because they lack consumer knowledge and judgement. as a result, they will try to persuade their parents to buy things like junk food even though they have no nutritional values. there is no doubt that ads can carry very powerful messages and images. therefore every advertiser must take a greater social responsibility and not just push for more profits. also, governments will have to look seriously into this matter. consumers need to concentrate more on the products than on the ads.

渭北初中
一、指导意义
在21世纪的今天，英语在国际交流与对外活动中发挥着越来越大的的作用，作为新时代的中学生,学好英语,流畅口语是顺应社会发展所必备的素质。为了提高在校中学生的口语水平,丰富同学们的业余生活,同时增强校园英语学习的良好氛围,我校决定在十一中旬举办名为“渭北初中风采英语演讲比赛”的活动。
二、活动细则
1、活动名称：渭北初中风采英语演讲比赛
2、活动时间：十一月（具体时间按“比赛具体流程”）
3、活动对象：渭北初中全体学生
4、活动原则：公平、公正、活泼、交流、自信
5、活动形式：初赛、复赛、决赛
6、主办组织：渭北初中英语教研组
7、活动宣传：板报宣传、负责人通知
8、报名方式：学生报名时可以到自己所在班级英语课代表处报名
9、报名时间：自2014年10月20日开始，截止日期为2014年11月10号
三、工作人员安排
1、宣传：由负责板报的班级及学生会进行宣传
2、编辑：由英语教研组教师负责整理报名表以及选手的决赛演讲稿
3、管理：由学校后勤备置活动物品
4、策划：由英语教研组各教师作好每一场比赛的赛前策划工作
四、比赛具体流程（初步预计参赛人数为60人）
〈一〉初赛
时间：11月15号，下午2：00—5：00
地点：八年级两间教室
演讲主题：
评分标准：
1、发音 20分
2、内容 30分
3、仪态仪表 10分
4、语言应用 10分
5、总体印象 10分
规则：选手分为两组，在两间教室同时进行海选。演讲为命题演讲，限时3分钟，分数排在前30名者进入下一轮比赛。
评委：2名专业英语老师、6名英语专业优秀学生
（比赛入围选手名单将通过板报和负责人通知的形式进行公布）
〈二〉复赛
时间：11月20号，下午2：30—4：30
地点：学校多媒体教室
演讲主题：
评分标准：
1、发音 20分
2、内容 30分
3、仪态仪表 10分
4、语言应用 10分
5、总体印象 10分
规则：选手演讲为命题演讲，限时4分钟，分数排在前15名者进入决赛。评委：2名专业英语老师、6名英语专业优秀学生（比赛入围选手名单将通过板报和负责人通知的形式进行公布）
〈三〉决赛
时间：11月26号下午2：00—5：30
地点：学校多媒体教室
演讲主题：
决赛由两部分组成：
1、先进行定题演讲（限时3分钟），定题演讲是参赛选手围绕赛前给定的主题，写好演讲稿进行演讲；
2、演讲结束后，评委提问一个问题，选手回答限时1分钟。评委用英语提问，可以是与选手演讲主题有关的问题、选手在演讲过程中涉及的问题，也可以是评委感兴趣的问题，选手一律用英语进行回答。
评分标准：
参赛选手的分数由两部分组成
1、定题演讲部分（该部分占总分的70％）
2、回答问题部分（该部分占总分的30％）
评分细则为：
1、发音 15分
2、内容 30分
3、仪态仪表 10分
4、语言应用 20分
5、总体印象 10分
6、应变能力（回答问题） 15分
规则：选手分数排在前6位的选手即可获一、二、三等奖，后九名可获优秀奖，一等奖1名，二等奖2名，三等奖3名，优秀奖9名
评委：渭北初中全体教师
决赛具体流程：
下午 1：30 负责老师与学生会成员入场准备活动前期工作
1：40全体师生入场
1：50由活动主持人介绍此次活动的主要目的等事项
2：00 由校领导致开幕词，并宣布活动开始
2：15 活动正式开始
2：15—3：30 第一组选手进行比赛（75分钟）
3：30—3：45 由学生会为全体师生唱首歌
3：45—5：00 第二组选手进行比赛（75分钟）
5：00—5：20 演讲结束，比赛进入评奖阶段。
5：30 主持人公布获奖名单，校领导进行颁奖，比赛结束，由校长做总结陈词。
五、活动具体要求
1、活动负责人提前30分钟入场
2、活动过程中要求参赛人员要维护现场秩序，保持全场安静，并要求把手机调到震动或者关机状态。
3、活动结束后负责场地的班级留下负责现场的清洁

为贯彻教育部《大学英语课程教学要求》，继续深化大学英语课程教学改革，展示和进一步提高大学生英语口语表达能力，激发大学生学习英语的积极性，根据省大学生科技竞赛委员会第六届浙江省大学生英语演讲竞赛通知精神，经研究，决定举行衢州学院2014年大学生英语演讲竞赛暨第六届浙江省大学生英语演讲竞赛选拔赛。现将本次竞赛的有关事项通知如下：
一、组织机构
主办单位：衢州学院教务处
承办单位：衢州学院外国语学院
竞赛委员会：林峰徐昌和严春妹刘一蓉谢桂花
二、参赛对象
衢州学院全日制本科在校学生均可参加。
三、竞赛方式与内容
即兴英语演讲。
四、评奖办法
竞赛设一等奖5%、二等奖15%、三等奖40%、优秀奖若干。届时将从获奖学生中选送一名学生参加第六届浙江省大学生英语演讲竞赛。
五、报名时间与方式
请于2014年9月8日前到各班英语老师处报名（每班限报2人）。
